Do a little research before blindly trusting a wiki. EJ did extensive testing during late vanilla with weapon skill bonuses and none of them affected the base hit cap but were determined to be valuable for melee due to the aforementioned reduction of glancing blow penalty. Visualize it as a bell curve around your average resistance. Unlike with armor, each extra point of magical resistance becomes more effective the more a character has. Similar to how melee damage reduction works, it is possible to calculate how much magical damage a character can take with a certain amount of health.
This is the measure of how much damage a character can soak per point of health they have. Against a level 60 caster, a character with resistance will resist damage for every damage they take, whereas with resistance they will resist for every they take.

We aren't the type of guild that will only take the classes that will be dealing the top damage, because all specs were viable for the most part, the only exception is for tanks only warriors.
